Motjari Nov 29th, 2020 1st Sunday of Advent +Ave Cor Mariae

      “The LORD is Coming”

Advent is a Greek word, which means “coming.”

Didn’t he already come? Yes, he came already. He came about 2000 years ago. He was born in Bethlehem. His parents traveled to Bethlehem

In Advent, we are celebrating His birthday. Is He coming more? When He’s coming again? He’s coming at the end of the world. Last Sunday, he came on clouds of heaven, with angels of multitude. When we say the creed, it is the dogma of the phrase, that something we believe as Catholics that something will sure to happen.

The Gospel of Nov 22nd, 2020, The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

      MT 25:31-46

      Jesus said to his disciples:
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory,
and all the angels with him,
he will sit upon his glorious throne,
and all the nations will be assembled before him.
And he will separate them one from another,
as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
Then the king will say to those on his right,
‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father.
Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
For I was hungry and you gave me food,
I was thirsty and you gave me drink,
a stranger and you welcomed me,
      naked and you clothed me,
ill and you cared for me,
in prison and you visited me.’
Then the righteous will answer him and say,
‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you,
or thirsty and give you drink?
When did we see you a stranger and welcome you,
      or naked and clothe you?
When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’
And the king will say to them in reply,
‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did
for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.’
Then he will say to those on his left,
      ‘Depart from me, you accursed,
into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
For I was hungry and you gave me no food,
I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,
a stranger and you gave me no welcome,
naked and you gave me no clothing,
ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.’
Then they will answer and say,
‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty
or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison,
and not minister to your needs?’
He will answer them, ‘Amen, I say to you,
what you did not do for one of these least ones,
you did not do for me.’
And these will go off to eternal punishment,
but the righteous to eternal life.”

      Today’s Gospel (Nov 29th, 2020, 1st week of Advent)

      Gospel

      MK 13:33-37

      Jesus said to his disciples:
      “Be watchful! Be alert!
You do not know when the time will come.
It is like a man traveling abroad.
He leaves home and places his servants in charge,
      each with his own work,
and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch.
      Watch, therefore;
you do not know when the Lord of the house is coming,
whether in the evening, or at midnight,
or at cockcrow, or in the morning.
May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping.
What I say to you, I say to all: ‘Watch!’”

What’s the big difference between the two, 1st and 2nd coming?

      1st coming

      2nd coming

      when

      Happened in the past

It will happen in the future, but don’t know exactly when ”When the son of man comes, “

      written where

      Written in the Gospels

      Book of Revelation

      how

conceived in the womb of a virgin

Chariot of clouds, angels and all the saints will gather before him

      Reason

To save us: “Our Savior has born for us.”

To judge: “He’s coming to judge”

      That

      is an obvious history

Dogma of his faith that he will come

      who know about it

Hidden in Bethlem. Very few people new about it. After the birth, they went to Egypt.

Everybody knows about it. He’s gonna be revealed to everybody. Now that everybody knows, there will be no debate. Everybody will know that He’s the king.

      Meaning

      Joyful! Merciful!

Angels sang, joyful to the world! “Don’t be afraid, I brought you a good news! Rejoice!

Judgement, justice is what He’s bringing us. His judgement is final.

      The Nicene Creed

      I believe in one God,
      the Father almighty,
      maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
       true God from true God,
       begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
       he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
       and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
       in accordance with the Scriptures.
       He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Keyword is “Watch”! Watch and pray. Be ready, be prepared!

After last supper, he went to the garden of Gethsemane, asked His disciples to watch and pray. He wanted HIs disciples to get ready.

Q: How are we happy with a test? We get ready. How de we get ready for the coming of our LORD?

A: By works of Charity. Corporal works of mercy.

Even if a person is never heard of Jesus, it is ok. What they do have to have is the charity. That’s the law of heart. Feed the hungry, etc.

“ Whatever you do the least of my brothers and sisters, you did it to me.”

      This is His criteria.

FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT the Collect (opening prayer):

Grant your faithful, we pray, almighty God, the resolve to run forth to meet your Christ with righteous deeds at his coming, so that, gathered at his right hand, they may be worthy to possess the heavenly Kingdom. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Watch for Him and run to Him with hands full of good deeds.

Activity suggestions: You can add straw or piece of cloth on a manger whenever you did a good deed, to make sure Jesus to come and laid on a cozy place out of the manger on  Christmas day.

      Advent calendar

Do something, doing good deed to your neighbor.
